ACTION PAC is proud to support three excellent Barrington Area Library Trustee candidates for the April 4, 2023 election. Each of these candidates offers individual ideas and experience, while sharing common goals for the future of the library. Kristin, Chase and Kelly plan to focus on the following pillars:

  • Cultivate excellence in the patron experience while being strong advocates for the library
  • Drive library resources and policies reflective of our community values
  • Promote thoughtful fiscal responsibility & expanded transparency

Each candidate’s unique background and knowledge will bring a diverse perspective to the library. Their combined experience will provide the library with trustees that are well versed in business, research and management. As community members and taxpayers, they know the importance and value of keeping this exceptional resource sustainable for years to come.

Kristin Cunningham

Kristin Cunningham, her husband and their two children live in the village of Barrington. She has a daughter at St. Viator High School and a son at St. Anne’s Parish School.

Kristin has been a stay-at-home mom and active community member for the past ten years. Prior to becoming a full-time mom, Kristin was a business manager for several cosmetic companies, including Giorgio Armani Cosmetics and Trish McEvoy. She has experience in promoting businesses through partnerships and events, and consistently exceeded goals in growth and client retention. In her free time, Kristin is a volunteer with a local dog rescue and has recently welcomed a second German Shepherd into her family.

With both her past work experience and her personal use of the library, Kristin feels that she will be beneficial as a trustee. She understands the importance of working as a team, event planning and budgets. She also knows firsthand how important the library is to the community and families like hers.

Kristin believes that the Barrington Area Library is an essential resource to the community and her family has enjoyed many of the programs it offers. She feels that education is important, and that the library is an extension to learning for all ages. Kristin believes that the services the library provides have become a staple in the community. Her goal as a Barrington Library Trustee, is to continue the excellence that our town has come to expect, long term, in a fiscally responsible way.

Chase Heidner

Chase was born and raised in Barrington where she attended Grove Avenue Elementary, Station Middle School, and Barrington High School. She worked at her family’s business for two years before attending DePaul University where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in psychology. While at DePaul, she worked in The CITIES Mentor Project research lab with elementary school children in south Chicago. The research focused on how stressful life experiences affect children and how children can learn and grow from those experiences. She also participated in DePaul’s Undergraduate Research Assistant Program for the Faultline US-Russia Project where she analyzed team composition for future space exploration. These experiences taught her how to be a team member, and what variables constitute an effective and efficient team. She believes that bringing this knowledge to the Library Board will be useful when making decisions for the betterment of our community.

Chase is determined and passionate to bring new ideas, teamwork, and community to our public library. She is determined to ensure that our funds are allocated in alignment with the views of our community members. She is focused on ensuring that the values between the community and the board are aligned, and that everyone in the community is aware of what is happening within our public spaces. She aspires to generate a thirst for knowledge, inspiration, and community.

Kelly Dittmann

Kelly Dittmann has 25+ years of experience working with Fortune 500® and non-profit organizations in the development and execution of their growth strategies. With expertise spanning M&A, enterprise strategy, innovation, and transformation. Kelly’s professional accomplishments cover both public and private sector, including financial services, education, healthcare, private equity, technology, manufacturing, life sciences, utilities, and energy.

Kelly is a Business Head for Hitachi of North America, Kelly is responsible for driving profitable strategic ventures and investments through global partnerships, delivering on multi-million-dollar returns. Prior to her work with Hitachi Ltd.; Kelly held executive roles with Baton Global Advisory, Principal Financial Group, and Wells Fargo & Co. As a trusted advisor, she is proud to gain professional endorsements across international trade industries, businesses, and governments.

Kelly is committed to her community and has held Board Member roles at Education Leadership, United Way of Central Iowa; Make-A-Wish, raising over millions for philanthropic fundraising in education and research; Iowa Homeless Shelter; Park Commission for The Village of North Barrington and Advisory Board Member for Saint Anne Catholic School in Barrington, Illinois.

Kelly is running for a trustee position at the Barrington Area Public Library where she hopes to bring her finance and business experience in support of the library’s mission. The library strives to create an environment for lifelong learning, providing experiences that enrich all ages. This important asset has a multi-million-dollar financial position and delivers value across our communities. As Trustee, Kelly will ensure our Library and its assets, owned by the taxpayers of the district, will reflect taxpayer and member views.

Kelly holds a B.S. from Purdue University, an MBA in Executive Leadership and Finance from Drake University, and Advanced Strategy, Economics from University of Chicago, Booth School of Business.
